We know that the 2 million older adults who have some type of abdominal surgery each year are at higher risk than others of suffering complications and early death, but until recently there was little known about the risks specific to people 65 and older. Of course this lack of information makes it challenging for clinicians, patients, and families to make informed decisions.

Today is a cloudy day where I live, but I’ll still put on a moisturizer with sunscreen in it when I go outside. Harmful rays abound even if the sun is behind the clouds. In fact, 80 percent of UV rays make it through the cloud cover. The sun, not time, is our skin’s greatest adversary. While time causes chronological aging, the sun causes photo-aging. The best anti aging skin care is to cover up.

Employment-based coverage is still the most prominent form of health insurance in the United States; however, the rate of this coverage has fallen in every year since 2000. Due to the high cost of health insurance, many employers are scaling back their insurance or eliminating it altogether according to a survey by the non partisan Kaiser Family Foundation. This leaves many individuals to make their own health care insurance decisions.
